Sun Signs, Moon Signs and Ascendants Explained
The Sun, Moon and the Ascendant signs are the three signs which influence personality and the way we choose to live our lives.
There are 12 different zodiac signs, each of which divides the sky into roughly 30 degree segments. They are: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.
Each astrology sign holds unique properties which influence our lives in different ways. Although people often refer to each of these signs as ‘their sign’, the correct term is ‘sun sign’ which means the position of the sun in the Zodiac the moment you were born.
Your sun sign is basically the sign that governs your personality and is a reflection of your soul, your ego, your inner self and determines your basic approach to life.
Your sun sign has an impact on your approach to life and how you respond to any given situation. For instance, if your sun sign is Cancer you may use emotional appeal to get things done the way you want and generally just as the crab walks sideways you take an indirect approach. If you were an Aries however, you would take a more direct and physical approach to get things done.
Zodiac astrology is more complex than just your sun sign. Your moon sign and your rising sign also contribute significantly to your character, dreams, relationships, and temperament.
Your moon sign is the constellation that the moon was in when you were born and the rising sign is the constellation that was rising in the east when you were born.
Your moon sign rules your emotional core, your heart and works in correlation to your sun sign. For instance your sun sign may be Cancer and your moon sign may be Gemini. This means that although you will display characteristics of a Cancerian, your moon sign, Gemini, will influence your emotional response to this characteristic.
You would need to know your time of birth to know what your ascendant sign is. Your ascendant sign rules your outer self, your facade, the way you present yourself and deal with everyday issues. For example if your rising sign was Taurus you would present as being timid, if your rising sign was Capricorn you would present as being serious.
Astrology is fascinating as well as complex but an understanding of our sun, moon, and rising signs and how they interact with each other provides a more detailed and thorough profile for anyone keen to discover more about astrology.
